Hi there! My name is Puck Verras (she/her) and I am a play designer, world builder, and scenographer who is doing artistic research into playful interventions by using spaces, costumes, props, sets, graphics, and games.
I view playful interventions as events that cause friction between our perceived reality and a imagined landscape, created by inviting, onboarding, and instructing my participants.
It is in my research interest to discover what spaces can bring to encourage playfulness, and how environments, stages, and spaces can be designed for play.
I intend to find ways to explore worlds beyond the human and try to speculate through playful scenographies about forgotten worlds, vanishing nows, and not-yets.
By questioning the rules of spaces and playing with the role of context, I like to contaminate environments with strange objects and actions. I am very interested in shared, public
spaces and how I can make art, theater, and play accessible to every audience within them. It is of great importance to me that everyone is given the opportunity to participate.
I believe playfulness has the potential to recharge us,inspire empathy, and aid us against desensitisation. In struggling how to navigate to care for everything that happens in our world simultaneously, play can help us go through all this and stay soft, openminded, and empathetic.
It is with this urgency that I research playful interventions as a tool of care and imagining.
